The Commuter Rail station in Winchester Center is one of the key things that attracts people to the town - just two stops into North Station gives easy access for work, dining out or going to a game or concert at the Garden. The station itself is in need of repairs and upgrades to bring it to current accessibility standards and increase station capacity. The MBTA has put together an extensive renovation plan that will give the station a complete overhaul, including high-level platforms for easy boarding, new access ramps and an elevator, improved lighting and more benches and bike racks. The work is scheduled to start as early as this fall, and will have a significant impact on surrounding businesses and commuters. To find out more about the plans, there will be a Public Meeting on Wednesday March 4th at 6:30pm at McCall Middle School - residents and business owners will have a chance to hear an updated summary of the scope of work, see the final design plans and construction schedule, and discuss issues and concerns. You can also visit the website to learn more and see renderings of how the new station will look. It's an exciting time for Winchester - make sure you are informed about the changes and the impact!
