December can be a busy month in real estate as people try to close out the year. 2019 was no exception - across almost all local towns the number of sales was up, homes continued to move quickly and sales prices increased year over year.
In Winchester there was a huge increase in the number of homes sold compared to last December. Prices were up and homes were spending fewer days on market.
Arlington followed a similar pattern, with prices up, days to offer down and more properties sold than the previous year.
Melrose also had a fast moving market, with an average of only 16 days from listing to accepted offer. There was also a jump in the number of homes sold, although prices dipped slightly year over year.
House prices continued to rise year over year in Medford, possibly fueled by fewer homes on the market than the previous year.
Woburn also saw a dip in the number of listings sold compared to last December, and at the same time the days to offer and days on market shortened dramatically, perhaps because of the lack of housing stock available.
