    Santa Claus is Coming to Town!

            Thanksgiving Food Drive for Winchester and Woburn Families

            We are delighted to be sponsors of the annual Thanksgiving Food Drive with the Family Action Network of Winchester (FAN).  Every year FAN teams up with the Woburn Council of Social Concern to donate Thanksgiving Food Baskets to make sure all families can celebrate.  FAN members and other members of the community can sign up to donate food items from a list, which volunteers will then put together to make all the ingredients for a full Thanksgiving meal.  These are then distributed through Woburn Council for Social Concern, who serve over 400 households in Woburn and Winchester. 

            If you want to take part, click on this link to get the complete list of items needed for the baskets.  Bring along your donations to Chidley Hall at the First Congregational Church in Winchester this Saturday (11/16) between 9:30 am – 11 am. Our agents and other volunteers will be on hand to help put together the baskets.  There will also be fun crafts for the kids thanks to Studio on the Common

              Honor And Give Thanks At These Veterans Day Events Near You

              Solider Saluting American Flag

              Monday, November 11th is Veterans Day, when we give thanks for those who served and continue to serve our country.  If you want to pay your respects and show your appreciation, there are several events happening around our towns.

              Winchester’s Veterans Day Parade steps off on Monday 11/11 at 10:15 am from Winchester High School and follows a route through town before ending at Town Hall.  There will be civic exercises and the public are welcome and encouraged to attend.

              Arlington Veterans Day ceremony begins at 10:30 am from Adams St / Mass Ave and ends with placing of the wreaths in Monument Square. All are welcome.

              In Woburn, Veterans will gather for the parade, which will pass from Woburn Central Square to Woburn Common where there will be a ceremony at 11 am. 

              Stoneham’s Veterans Day Ceremony begins at 10:30 am on the Town Common and is followed by a Memorial Run / Walk Road Race.  Both a 5K and an  11K race will begin directly after the ceremony as a way for community members to honor and support Veterans and their families.  All proceeds go to The Skate for the 22 Foundation and the Stoneham Veterans Assistance Fund.   

              In addition, the first annual Run for our Heroes takes place on Sunday, November 10th in Winchester.  This 5k route is family-friendly, so bring your strollers and walk or run to raise funds for Stop Soldier Suicide (stopsoldiersuicide.org)

              All of these parades and events are rain or shine, so please dress for the weather!
